Ah ha! If you load your distaff with the rovings parallel to each other, instead of winding them round and round the stick, it is much easier to spin from. I think I'm getting the hang of this. Now to comb out some more wool, so I can load it up again. But here is the first spindle's worth of yarn, ready for the next step in the process:
